Reading a SignBot Backtest Report

The summary figures
Every run reports total trades, winning trades, win rate, profit factor, net profit and loss, maximum drawdown, Sharpe ratio and the exact period tested. Read the trade count first: a headline figure computed from four trades is not evidence of anything.
The per-trade rows
Each trade row carries trade number, scrip, exchange, segment, trade type, direction, entry and exit time, entry and exit price, profit and loss, percentage, exit reason and duration. Options rows additionally carry the strike, the expiry, the spot entry price and the modelled premium at entry and exit.
What the backtest deliberately excludes
- Capital and margin are not deducted, because historical margin data is not available
- Option premiums in backtests are a model estimate, not a real historical option price
Both are design decisions rather than oversights, and both mean a backtest result is an indication rather than a promise.
Segment rules you should know
SignBot routes every strategy by segment, and the rules genuinely differ:
- NSE equity and F&O support 1min, 3min, 5min, 15min, 30min, 1hr, 4hr and 1day candles
- MCX futures support 1min, 5min, 30min and 1day only — the vendor rejects the others, so they are not offered
- On NSE options SignBot is buy-only. A bullish signal buys a CE, a bearish signal buys a PE, and there is no option writing anywhere in the platform
- Options entry and exit conditions are evaluated on the underlying spot candle, while the position itself is the option contract
- NSE history goes back up to 36 months for backtests; MCX history is limited to 3 months
Try it in SignBot

- Only when it has earned your confidence, run it on LiveBot through your own broker account — Rs 30 entry and Rs 30 exit
Everything described here is part of the platform you already have access to.
