Previous Day High Break (Options) Strategy Explained

What the Previous Day High Break (Options) strategy is
Previous Day High Break (Options) is one of the ready-made strategy templates in SignBot. It ships as 2 prebuilt variant(s) across NSE_INDEX_OPT, already wired with entry conditions, exit rules and a lot size, so you can clone it into your own list and run it without building anything from scratch.
Where you will find it
- Available on: BANKNIFTY, NIFTY
- Segment coverage: NSE_INDEX_OPT
- Prebuilt variants in the catalogue: 2
Open the Strategy tab, go to Pre-Built strategies and search by name. Cloning copies the template into My Strategies as your own editable copy — the original template is never modified.
How to use it properly
- Clone the variant that matches the scrip and segment you actually intend to trade
- Read the entry and exit conditions before running anything — you own the strategy once it is in your list
- Backtest it yourself on a period that includes both trending and range-bound markets — Rs 10 per run
- Run it on SignBot virtual trading first, on live prices with virtual money
- Only move it to LiveBot when you have seen it behave the way you expect
When SignBot evaluates it
Indicator and pattern conditions are evaluated on candle close, never mid-bar. A provisional value inside a forming candle can cross a threshold and then un-cross before the bar completes, which would fire a signal on something that never actually happened. Waiting for the close is a deliberate design decision in the engine, not a limitation.
Segment rules you should know
SignBot routes every strategy by segment, and the rules genuinely differ:
- NSE equity and F&O support 1min, 3min, 5min, 15min, 30min, 1hr, 4hr and 1day candles
- MCX futures support 1min, 5min, 30min and 1day only — the vendor rejects the others, so they are not offered
- On NSE options SignBot is buy-only. A bullish signal buys a CE, a bearish signal buys a PE, and there is no option writing anywhere in the platform
- Options entry and exit conditions are evaluated on the underlying spot candle, while the position itself is the option contract
- NSE history goes back up to 36 months for backtests; MCX history is limited to 3 months
What the template does not decide for you
A prebuilt template is a starting point, not a recommendation. It does not know your capital, your risk tolerance or your holding preference. The capital and margin review step exists precisely so you see the required capital per lot before the strategy is deployed, and you should treat every default — period, target, stop loss, lot count — as something to test rather than accept.
Try it in SignBot
The Previous Day High Break (Options) template is ready to clone right now. Strategy creation and the AI Optimizer are free forever, so you can build and refine the rule before spending anything.
- Open the Strategy Builder and add the condition described above
- Run a backtest on real NSE or MCX history — Rs 10 per run
- Move it to SignBot virtual trading to watch it on live prices — Rs 15 entry and Rs 15 exit from wallet credits, no real money at risk
- Only when it has earned your confidence, run it on LiveBot through your own broker account — Rs 30 entry and Rs 30 exit
Cloning and editing a prebuilt strategy is free. You pay only for backtest runs and for signals.
