Never (session constraint) Conditions Explained

What a Never (session constraint) condition does

Never (session constraint) is one of the seven condition types the SignBot Strategy Builder offers. True only while the inner condition has NOT happened at any point today. Resets each morning. Use for 'as long as price hasn't broken yesterday's low today'. Every strategy is built from these seven types, combined with AND / OR logic and nested groups.

The seven condition types

• Indicator — compare an indicator to a value or to another indicator
• Pattern — a candlestick or structure pattern on this bar
• Level Touch — price touches a level anywhere inside the bar, not only at close
• Time Window — only between two times of day
• At Time — exactly at one time of day
• Day of Week — only on the chosen weekdays
• Never — true only while the inner condition has not happened at any point today

When SignBot evaluates it

Indicator and pattern conditions are evaluated on candle close, never mid-bar. A provisional value inside a forming candle can cross a threshold and then un-cross before the bar completes, which would fire a signal on something that never actually happened. Waiting for the close is a deliberate design decision in the engine, not a limitation.

Where Never (session constraint) is genuinely useful

Condition types are not interchangeable, and choosing the right one changes what your strategy actually does:

1. Use time conditions to keep a strategy inside the session you intend to trade
2. Use Level Touch when the level being reached matters more than where the bar closed
3. Use Never as a session-long guard, for example while price has not broken the previous day low today
4. Use Day of Week for strategies tied to expiry or to a specific weekday behaviour

Segment rules you should know

SignBot routes every strategy by segment, and the rules genuinely differ:

• NSE equity and F&O support 1min, 3min, 5min, 15min, 30min, 1hr, 4hr and 1day candles
• MCX futures support 1min, 5min, 30min and 1day only — the vendor rejects the others, so they are not offered
• On NSE options SignBot is buy-only. A bullish signal buys a CE, a bearish signal buys a PE, and there is no option writing anywhere in the platform
• Options entry and exit conditions are evaluated on the underlying spot candle, while the position itself is the option contract
• NSE history goes back up to 36 months for backtests; MCX history is limited to 3 months
