Building a Strategy Manually

The building blocks
A manual strategy is assembled from condition types joined with AND / OR logic and nested groups. SignBot offers 187 indicators in the picker, 38 patterns, and seven condition types including time windows and level touches.
A workable order
- Search your scrip — the segment is detected automatically
- Add the entry condition that carries your actual idea
- Add confirmation conditions with AND, or alternatives with OR
- Set exit rules explicitly — target, stop loss and time exit are separate
- Choose the trade type and review capital and margin
- Save, then backtest before deploying anywhere
Keep the first version small
A strategy with one condition and clear exits is easier to evaluate than one with six. Add conditions one at a time and re-run the backtest after each, so you can see what each one actually contributed.
Segment rules you should know
SignBot routes every strategy by segment, and the rules genuinely differ:
- NSE equity and F&O support 1min, 3min, 5min, 15min, 30min, 1hr, 4hr and 1day candles
- MCX futures support 1min, 5min, 30min and 1day only — the vendor rejects the others, so they are not offered
- On NSE options SignBot is buy-only. A bullish signal buys a CE, a bearish signal buys a PE, and there is no option writing anywhere in the platform
- Options entry and exit conditions are evaluated on the underlying spot candle, while the position itself is the option contract
- NSE history goes back up to 36 months for backtests; MCX history is limited to 3 months
Try it in SignBot
Put this into practice on your own strategy. Strategy creation and the AI Optimizer are free forever, so you can build and refine the rule before spending anything.
- Open the Strategy Builder and add the condition described above
- Run a backtest on real NSE or MCX history — Rs 10 per run
- Move it to SignBot virtual trading to watch it on live prices — Rs 15 entry and Rs 15 exit from wallet credits, no real money at risk
- Only when it has earned your confidence, run it on LiveBot through your own broker account — Rs 30 entry and Rs 30 exit
Everything described here is part of the platform you already have access to.
